why not a critical mass ride?
We like to encourage riders to follow the rules, think of it as critical manners.
and the email to contact is bike@transalt.org See you out there.
are these the jokers who ride around with vest that say share the road or something?
I was stopped with my bf at a red light on 50th and roosevelt, the first car in a row of 3, when a group - 15 to 20 of these clowns with the vests swarmed around our car to get in front of us. Only about 7 or 8 fit though. The group was too big to to get a place in front of us while we waited at the red light so they were lined up around our car and the ones behind ours.
When the light turned green, I convinced my bf to wait for them all to catch up with each other before taking off.
As an avid bike rider, it annoyed me to no end to see people acting so recklessly. There's nothing I wanted more than to open my door as they went by.
I've never had a problem sharing the road when I've been behind the wheel, it's getting cyclists to share it that's always been the problem.
If this is the group heff, then you haven't been encouraging your group nearly enough.
The bike ride sounds cool -- Queens Boulevard in general is such a terrifying street that any efforts to make it more pedestrian-friendly and bike-friendly are well worth supporting.
We ride again this Friday 12/12. This time to keep warm we are meeting INSIDE the LaGuardia College Main Bldg at 31-10 Thomson Ave between 31st St and Van Dam. Still leaving at 6:30pm. All are welcome.
